MCR Cottage Common Room
The Cottage Common Room is a cozy on-site space where members can relax, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet moment with a coffee. It’s equipped with a coffee machine, a TV with a Wii, a collection of books (lovingly dubbed the MCR Library), board games, and a range of feminine hygiene products which get restocked regularly. Access is via a code, available only to those who have paid the levy, ensuring the space remains a welcoming haven for members. Postgraduates often meet here before formal dinners to change into high heels and catch up before heading over to the Dining Hall. We’ve also hosted garden parties on the patio, making good use of the benches and atmospheric fairy lights.
James Barber House Common Room
James Barber House Common Room, situated with the postgraduate accommodation block just a seven-minute walk from the main site, offers a comfortable spot to unwind or socialise. It’s often used as a space for parties, bookable by residents of James Barber House for private functions and by MCR Executive Officers for MCR-wide events. Outside in the courtyard is a herb garden, started in the summer of 2023 by residents and now enjoyed by all visiting postgraduates.
